Multi-Protocol Support & Matter Bridge Functionality
The Aqara Hub M3 speaks every major smart-home language. It is a full Zigbee 3.0 hub for all Aqara sensors and switches, a Thread Border Router for the latest Thread gadgets, and a Matter controller that also acts as a bridge. That means your existing Aqara Zigbee devices instantly appear as Matter accessories in Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Hubitat, and more, while the same hub can onboard third-party Matter devices into the Aqara ecosystem. With capacity for 127 Zigbee and 127 Thread nodes, the M3 unifies diverse products under a single, future-proof platform. All radios run locally for speed, security, and resilience.

Edge Processing for Local Automations
Unlike hubs that send every command to the cloud, the Aqara Hub M3 runs automations locally on its own fast processor. Motion-to-light rules, security alerts, or climate adjustments execute in milliseconds even if your internet or voice assistant is offline. This “edge computing” keeps your data private, slashes latency, and guarantees your smart home still works during outages. Migrating is simple: move Zigbee devices and scenes from older Aqara hubs and they’re automatically converted to local routines on the M3. Critical settings live in encrypted 8 GB onboard storage, so nothing is lost if power or network drops. Local control, cloud-optional convenience, rock-solid reliability. Integrate Thread and Matter automations the same way, giving the entire home uniform, immediate responses everywhere instantly.

360° IR Blaster with Feedback & AC Integration
The Hub M3’s built-in 360° infrared blaster turns legacy appliances into smart devices. It learns commands for TVs, fans, and set-top boxes, then beams them in any direction, replacing multiple remotes. Unique bidirectional ‘feedback’ detection listens for signals from the original remote, so the app always shows the correct state. Pair the blaster with an Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor, and the hub exposes an IR air-conditioner as a full Matter thermostat, controllable from Apple Home, Google Home, or Alexa. One hub, one remote, instant integration—bringing even decade-old AC units, AV gear, and heaters into modern voice and automation scenes effortlessly.

Superior Wired & Wireless Connectivity (Wi-Fi 6, PoE)
The Hub M3 stays reliably online thanks to dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and wired Power-over-Ethernet. Wi-Fi 6 delivers faster throughput, lower latency, and better performance in congested homes, while 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios guarantee long range and high speed. Prefer cables? Plug a single PoE cable for data plus power, perfect for ceiling or closet installs where outlets are scarce. A fallback USB-C port accepts standard adapters or portable battery packs, ensuring uptime during outages. Whether you stream heavy Matter traffic or just need rock-solid stability, the M3’s flexible networking keeps every automation instant and secure. WPA3 encryption protects credentials and sensitive device data.
Finally a worth replacement for Smartthings, the latest firmware update to the Meross Matter Smart Plug Mini (UK), means that plug has working power monitoring in the system, so able to set rules based on power consumption.(when first add the plugs there is no, need to add to Aquara App, then add to Meross app, update firmware, remove the plug, then add again)
I upgraded to the Aqara Smart Hub M3 to replace my old Aqara hub, and I’m so glad I did! The setup was a breeze, and it integrates seamlessly with all my smart devices. The hub supports Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, making it incredibly versatile. It works perfectly with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, SmartThings, and IFTTT, giving me full control over my home automation. It's a fantastic, reliable hub with excellent connectivity. Highly recommended!
Excellent item
Excellent hub, plugged in and worked immediately.
Disappointed.I have a few hubs for one reason or another, I decided I wanted Aqara lights in the near future which requires a hub. But, now just checking out the hub it sounds amazing... Bluetooth, WiFi, ZigBee, Matter, Thread + "THIRD PARTY DEVICES", lots of talks of Hue working with it etc, so I'm thinking this can replace all the hubs, nice!... Reality is, "Third Party" list consists of Tesla & Sonos, that's it.And the Hue support amounts to your Hue Hub pairing with the Aqara app, but you still need the hue hub, so that was poor.I also have a number of ZigBee devices I've collected over the years, using 2 other cheapo junk hubs and id hoped the 3M would replace them, unfortunately despite ZigBee written all over it - it only detects Aqara ZigBee devices and not third party brands. So, Very much a product for Aqara users and not third parties looking for an all in one hub to take over there smart home & tidy things up.As for the device, it looks well designed, high quality, nice little wall mount etc but quite disappointing, would return it but I'm still wanting Aqara lights and hopefully further down the line with updates etc maybe Aqara will make the product what it should be, both for the price tag and the technical specs it boasts.
